TEHRAN (IQNA) – The winner of the top title in the women’s section of the 2nd Meshkat international Quran competition was honored in a ceremony in Lebanon.

The Tawjih and Irshad Quranic Institute organized the ceremony for Merian Mohammad Mustafa.

The Lebanese memorizer came first in the category of memorization of the entire Quran in the international event.

The Tawjih and Irshad Quranic Institute gave her a certificate of honor as well as a cash prize, wishing her success in implementing Quranic teachings in personal and social life.

The winners of the second Meshkat international Quran contest were announced in Mid-October concurrent with the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

More than 1,000 participants from 73 countries had taken part in the preliminary stage of the competition, with 153 individuals making it to the final of the event, which was held virtually from September 29 to October 3.

They competed in the categories of Quran recitation for men and Quran memorization for men and women.

In the women’s recitation category, Zahra Khalil from Iran won the top award while Asi Pavnari from Indonesia and Asie Ahmad Ali from Nigeria stood next.

In men’s memorization, the top prize went to Abdullah Ali Hassan from Egypt. Ayamuddin Fakhruddin from Russia and Zakaria Abu al-Aql from Belgium ranked second and third.

In the men’s recitation category, Khalil Savari from Iran won the title. Gholam Rasool Abbasi from Afghanistan and Lotfi Kamal from Indonesia stood next.

The winner of each category was awarded a cash prize of nearly $2,600 USD while the two next ranks received nearly $2,300 and $2,000 USD respectively.
